Bryan Kohberger's Idaho murder scene unveiled through detailed 3D replica after death penalty struck

Officials in Idaho released a 3D model of the house where Bryan Kohberger killed four University of Idaho students following his guilty plea.

Kohberger confessed to the slayings of Ethan Chapin, Madison Mogen, Xana Kernodle, and Kaylee Goncalves on July 2, avoiding a death sentence through a plea deal. These four University of Idaho students were discovered deceased on November 13, 2022, in their Moscow, Idaho residence, close to the university campus.

In return for taking the death penalty off the table, Kohberger will face four life sentences back-to-back without parole for the charges of first-degree murder and one count of felony burglary.

The Latah County Prosecutors Office on Friday released images of a 3D model of 1122 King Road in Moscow, Idaho, where the murders took place.

  • 4 a.m.: The suspect arrives at the house
  • Between 4 and 4:17: Murders occur
  • 4:19: A roommate tries to call three victims; no response
  • 4:22 to 4:24: Surviving roommates text one another within the house
  • 4:27: Roommate attempts to call victims again; no response
  • 4:32: Roommate texts Goncalves, “Pls answer”
  • 10:23: Surviving roommate texts victims again; no response
  • 11:39: Roommate contacts her father
  • 12 p.m.: 911 call made from roommate’s phone.

After Kohberger’s sentencing on July 23, Judge Steven Hippler removed the gag order that had been placed on those involved in the case, enabling the release of investigative records.

Police documents released after Hippler released the gag order revealed that Goncalves and Mogen were both found together side by side.

The police report said both women were “covered by a pink blanket which was covered in blood.”

Outside 1122 King Road in December 2022, security was maintained at the site four weeks after the fatal stabbings of the four students. As of a year later, plans have been made to demolish the property, though some critics argue it should remain intact until the trial concludes.

“It was obvious an intense struggled had occurred,” police wrote in another report, describing the crime scene.

Authorities noted that they saw “what appeared to be defensive knife wounds on Xana’s hands,” adding that a tan leather knife sheath was also found.
