A-Rod, ex-wife open up on the Madonna affair for first time in tense moment in new doc

Yankees icon Alex Rodriguez and his ex-wife, Cynthia Scurtis, recently opened up about the regrets surrounding their divorce and the speculated affair with pop star Madonna back in 2008.

In the second installment of HBO’s docuseries “Alex vs ARod,” Scurtis candidly discussed two episodes of Rodriguez’s past infidelity. She revealed that the situation involving Madonna was ultimately the breaking point in their relationship.

“He appeared genuinely remorseful and certainly not proud of his actions,” Scurtis, 52, shared. The series highlighted past media coverage of Rodriguez’s visits to strip clubs and his partying with other women during their marriage.

Scurtis recounted their timeline, saying, “We had been together for about a year when I became pregnant with Ella. Shortly after she was born in April 2008, a similar situation arose, and that led us to divorce.”

While Scurtis chose not to delve further into specifics or mention names, her comments were accompanied by an old headline from The Post, hinting at a closer relationship between Rodriguez and Madonna, who was married to filmmaker Guy Ritchie at the time.

She spoke of it as HBO showed a headline from The Post at the time suggesting Rodriguez and Madonna, who was married to Guy Ritchie at the time, were more than friends.

The couple welcomed their first daughter, Natasha, in November 2004.

Rodriguez’s first alleged time cheating on Scurtis happened in 2007 when he was spotted with a mystery woman in Toronto.

“In hindsight, I could have been a better husband, I could have been more present, I could have been more loyal, I could have been more empathetic, sympathetic, you name it,” Rodriguez said.

Scurtis filed for divorce in 2008 after six years of marriage, alleging in her filing that Rodriguez had multiple affairs and had “emotionally abandoned” her and their children.

Her lawyer said at the time that Rodriguez had an “affair of the heart” with Madonna that was the “last straw,” according to People.

“That is absolutely ridiculous and not true,” Rodriguez said of the Madonna rumors at the time, telling People, “You have to have a sense of humor when it comes to this stuff.”

A representative for Madonna also denied the rumors to People, saying the singer and baseball star had the same manager, Guy Oseary, at the time.

On “Alex vs ARod,” Scurtis said Rodriguez’s “own demons” affected their marriage.

“I knew that he had his own demons and I was hoping he would get help,” she said. “And I was hoping that it could end differently than it did.

“He was really upset [about the divorce] so that affected me, but at the same time, I think I felt a sense of freedom.”

Rodriguez, who did not name anyone or recall a specific scenario, addressed the New York headlines about his bad boy ways.

“First, I’ll say you can’t believe everything you read,” Rodriguez said on docuseries. “Some things are underplayed in the media and some things are overplayed and this is probably somewhere in the middle.

“It was not like we were unhappy, but we were growing apart romantically. I don’t know. Marriage is challenging.”

Rodriguez now is dating Jaclyn Cordeiro, a fitness entrepreneur.

They were first linked in October 2022 and made their relationship Instagram official two months later.
