On this week’s show, Dionne Miller spoke with ESPN Radio’s Jeff Meller about the first-place Chicago White Sox. After several difficult seasons, the South Siders have emerged as the team to beat in the American League Central. Miller and Meller examined the factors behind the club’s dramatic rise during the 2026 season.
The Chicago Bears also wrapped up minicamp this week, marking the last public look at the team for the next six weeks. Reporting from Halas Hall, Miller heard from head coach Ben Johnson, who said he was encouraged by the players’ work throughout the offseason program and by the team’s growing understanding of the standard expected of the Monsters of the Midway.
Meanwhile, the Chicago Wolves are preparing for the Calder Cup Finals. The AHL championship series opens Friday night at Allstate Arena, where the Wolves will face the Toronto Marlies in Game 1. Miller also sat down with Spiros Anastas, who served as interim head coach earlier this season before being officially named to the role in April. Now the 15th head coach in franchise history, Anastas discussed the approach he believes can help bring the Calder Cup back to Chicago.
ABC7 Sports anchor and reporter Mark Schanowski also reflected on the death of his friend Stacey King, who died suddenly on Sunday. Schanowski and King co-hosted the “Gimme The Hot Sauce Podcast,” and Schanowski shared personal memories of the three-time NBA champion, whose colorful commentary and unforgettable calls made him a favorite among Chicago Bulls fans. He said King’s warmth, generosity with fans, and larger-than-life personality left a lasting impression on everyone he met.
