Atlanta Master of Disguise Tracy Mingo Accused in 10 Armed Store Robberies

A Georgia man accused by authorities of being the “Master of Disguise” is facing federal charges after prosecutors say he carried out a string of armed robberies across the Atlanta area, terrorizing store workers over several months.

Tracy Daryl Mingo, 33, of College Park, Georgia, was arraigned Thursday on 20 federal counts connected to the alleged robbery spree, which investigators say unfolded between October 2025 and January 2026, according to the Department of Justice.

Federal prosecutors allege Mingo struck multiple late-night businesses, including Circle K, Subway and Family Dollar locations in College Park, Decatur, East Point, Fairburn, Marietta and Union City, often choosing times when stores were nearly empty or had no customers inside.

During each alleged holdup, Mingo is accused of brandishing a firearm at employees and demanding cash, prosecutors said.

Authorities said he tried to avoid detection by altering his look from one robbery to the next, allegedly using disguises that made him appear to be a construction worker, a health care employee and a security guard.

“During his months-long reign of terror, Mingo allegedly endangered the lives of more than a dozen store employees across ten different locations by robbing them at gunpoint,” US Attorney Theodore S. Hertzberg said.

“I am proud of the collaborative efforts of the FBI and our local police partners to identify Mingo and arrest him before anyone was seriously hurt,” Hertzberg added.

The investigation came to a head on Jan. 2, when law enforcement arrested Mingo as he appeared to be getting into the same security guard outfit he had allegedly used in a Circle K robbery the previous night.

The FBI and local police departments shared information across jurisdictions as they worked to identify the alleged robber.

“For months, Mingo allegedly used disguises in an attempt to evade identification and continue targeting innocent workers at gunpoint,” Marlo Graham, special agent in charge of FBI Atlanta, said.

“He underestimated the determination of the investigators pursuing him and the strength of the partnerships that exist between the FBI and our state and local law enforcement partners,” Graham added.

A federal grand jury indicted Mingo on July 28 on charges including Hobbs Act robbery, attempted Hobbs Act robbery, brandishing a firearm during a crime of violence and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

If convicted, Mingo faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 63 years in prison.

He remains in the custody of the US Marshals Service.
