A group of hungry black bears made an unsuccessful attempt to raid a car for snacks and beer outside a couple’s Tennessee home before the residents drove them off.
Residents in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, caught a family of black bears rummaging through a white pickup truck on Oct. 14. The animals left behind a mess as they searched for food.
Video recorded by Pam Conley shows four bears climbing into the truck and pulling out a bag of snacks before dragging out a six-pack of beer, sending the cans tumbling onto the driveway.
“We didn’t have a chance to unpack the truck yet, so of course, we had snacks in there, and they just helped themselves to granola bars, beer and Crunch ‘n Munch.”
The couple eventually approached the vehicle in an effort to frighten the bears away, but the animals briefly pushed back.

Black bears are omnivores, meaning their diets include both plants and animals.
The animals depend heavily on their keen sense of smell to locate food. According to the National Park Service, they can detect a food source from more than two miles away.
To deter a bear, experts recommend keeping a safe distance, standing your ground, making eye contact, raising your arms to appear larger and creating loud noises.
