NYC gunman Shane Tamura seen angering police officers in bodycam video during 2023 arrest

Las Vegas police have made available bodycam footage and 911 calls connected to the alleged Manhattan mass shooter, Shane Tamura. This includes video footage of officers addressing a reported mental health issue at his apartment and an arrest made at a local casino.

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department cited “extraordinary circumstances” when releasing these materials on Tuesday, in the aftermath of last week’s mass shooting. In connection with the killings, the NYPD has indicated that Tamura had a known history of mental health issues.

According to police, 27-year-old Tamura initiated a shooting rampage using an AR-style rifle at the 345 Park Avenue office building. During this event, he tragically took the lives of an NYPD officer, a security guard, and two executives, before turning the firearm on himself.

During an incident in September 2023, Tamura was arrested after refusing to leave the Red Rock Casino Resort & Spa. He had been gambling there and declined to present identification after winning money.

After gathering his belongings and leaving the apartment, Tamura got onto a gurney and was taken away by first responders.

Another video from May 2023 shows Tamura being stopped by police for lacking a rear license plate on his black BMW sedan. After checking his details, officers found his license was canceled and his registration expired. They instructed him to park his car as they took possession of it. In the footage, Tamura is seen apologizing to officers and complying with their directives.

In a 2022 9/11 call, a family member called police to report that Tamura was threatening to take his own life.

“Did he say how he wanted to hurt himself?” the dispatcher asked.”

“He has a gun,” the woman replied. “He keeps it locked in a backpack.”
