Heart-pounding bodycam video captures the moments NYPD officers rushed 28-year-old Oscar Belgal, a suspected migrant gang member who had been shot by ICE agents, to the hospital in their own vehicle.
Officers arrived at the Marble Hill Avenue scene around 4 p.m. Thursday, shortly after Belgal was shot by federal agents. In the footage, one officer points toward a construction-vested ICE agent holding a long gun and says, “He’s got a gun.”
“ICE just shot somebody!” bystanders shouted as uniformed NYPD officers stepped out of their vehicle beside the wounded man, who was sitting on the ground. “You got ICE shooting at people?” one person asked.
ICE agents remained at the scene while NYPD officers radioed for an ambulance. When medical help did not arrive quickly enough, officers lifted Belgal into their patrol car and drove him to NewYork-Presbyterian Allen Hospital.
