While the likelihood of severe weather from this initial storm is low, there is a possibility of hail and strong winds.

In the afternoon and evening on Friday, isolated thunderstorms may develop.

Mowry warns that these storms could bring high winds, hail, and even a slight chance of tornadoes.

The majority of the Chicago area is currently under a Level 1 severe weather risk. However, certain suburbs to the south, west, and north face a heightened Level 2 risk.

Friday night into Saturday morning, there will be a scattering of showers and thunderstorms before 8 a.m.

Those scattered storms could also become severe. It’s a low threat with high wind as the biggest concern.

The first day of Rev. Jesse Jackson’s Chicago funeral services are Friday, with high-profile dignitaries expected to come to the city, including former presidents.
