Last week, President Donald Trump threw his support behind Republican Steve Hilton in the race for California’s governorship. However, state Republicans appear to have different ideas.
In a surprising move on Sunday, the California GOP chose not to endorse any Republican candidate for governor, effectively rejecting Trump’s preferred choice.
During the voting, Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco received more support from party delegates but fell short of the 60 percent threshold needed for an endorsement. Bianco garnered 49 percent of the votes, while Hilton secured 44 percent.
