A part-time baseball coach and temporary groundskeeper at a California high school has been accused of committing sex crimes against a female student, according to prosecutors.
Gabriel Vigil, aged 34, was employed at Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo High School located in Long Beach at the time of the alleged offenses, as reported by the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.
Vigil faces multiple charges: one count of sexual penetration of a minor under 18, unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor more than three years younger, oral copulation with a minor under 18, contacting a minor for a sexual act, and sharing or displaying pornography to a minor.
Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan J. Hochman addressed the matter during a news conference held at the Hall of Justice in Los Angeles.
A spokesperson for the Long Beach Unified School District told Fox News Digital Vigil is no longer employed by the district.
“An incident involving a part-time coach and substitute groundskeeper at Cabrillo High School is under investigation,” said a spokesperson. “Any issue concerning safety is examined quickly and comprehensively, and as soon as it’s reported, it is handled according to district guidelines.”
