A Canadian woman accused of slapping a teenager at the Jersey Shore after objecting to the girl’s MAGA-themed clothing has been detained by ICE and taken to Delaney Hall in Newark — an immigration detention facility her husband has previously criticized on social media.
Kaitlyn E. Tracey, 33, was taken into custody after allegedly recording herself confronting two girls in “patriotic colored” sweatpants during Fourth of July weekend in Point Pleasant, police said. Authorities said one of the girls was struck across the face and body.
Her husband, Matthew Geroni, 42, said in a TikTok video posted Tuesday that Tracey had been transferred to Delaney Hall. He said he recorded the video to help secure her release from ICE custody, “even if that means back to Canada.”
Tracey was arrested Monday and charged with endangering the welfare of a child, simple assault, harassment and obstruction, according to court records reviewed by The Post.
The couple have been living in Asbury Park since Tracey entered the United States with a Canadian passport in 2024.
Geroni had already posted about Delaney Hall before his wife’s detention. The Newark facility has drawn intense attention in recent months amid protests and clashes involving police and anti-ICE demonstrators.
In June, Geroni shared a TikTok video that appeared to parody both sides of the dispute, depicting protesters as peaceful and police as aggressive and unthinking.
The clip begins with Geroni seated beneath on-screen text reading, “peaceful protesters literally standing in their designated first amendment zone,” as he looks puzzled and scratches his head.
It then cuts to him standing and aiming a gun-like object with which he mimics a rapid-fire shooting motion standing beside the text “State police and [ICE] at Delaney Hall in Newark, NJ.”
Geroni did not immediately respond to The Post’s request for comment.
