A RESTAURANT owned by a CBS News star’s husband has been raided by immigration agents as part of an illegal migrant crackdown.

Cops swooped on the establishment and spent 90 minutes there demanding to see paperwork.

Immigration agents wanted to ensure all staffers were legal workers.

The investigation at Chef Geoff’s, a restaurant owned by Geoff Tracy, husband of journalist Norah O’Donnell, was one of several probes conducted by law enforcement in Washington, DC on Tuesday, as detailed by the Fox affiliate WTTG-TV.

And, Tuesday’s raid happened just a day after the Department of Homeland Security offered illegal migrants a $1,000 check to self-deport.

In a bid to incentivize illegals to leave the US, they are also being offered a free flight out of the country.

No one was arrested following the raid at Chef Geoff’s – a restaurant that has been a staple in Washington DC for more than 20 years.

Raids were also carried out at other restaurants throughout the day.

Bo Blair, the owner of Millie’s, said agents came into the establishment at around lunchtime, as reported by The Washingtonian.

Blair revealed that not all agents were armed with guns, explaining some were wearing ordinary clothes.

Cops reportedly asked if they could quiz workers, but a manager refused permission, as reported by the outlet.

But, restaurant bosses worry how the raids could scare people.

“They were quite upfront about their intention to return to the restaurant on Monday, which is understandably unsettling for the staff,” Marisa Casey, the CEO of the restaurant’s ownership group, mentioned.

It has been reported that posters warning workers about potential raids have been circulating in the days leading up to the probe.

Immigration raids are just one element to Trump’s strategy to try and secure the border.

His administration has promised to usher in an unprecedented era of homeland security.

DHS’ full statement on ‘historic’ $1,000 stipend for illegal immigrants

Today, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) introduced a groundbreaking chance for undocumented immigrants to receive financial aid and travel assistance for returning to their homeland via the CBP Home App. Any undocumented immigrant who utilizes the CBP Home App for self-deportation will also obtain a $1,000 stipend, distributed once their return is verified through the app.

Self-deportation is a dignified way to leave the U.S. and will allow illegal aliens to avoid being encountered by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Even with the cost of the stipend, it is projected that the use of CBP Home will decrease the costs of a deportation by around 70 percent. Currently, the average cost to arrest, detain, and remove an illegal alien is $17,121.

The first use of travel assistance has already proven successful. An illegal alien that the Biden Administration allowed into our country recently utilized the program to receive a ticket for a flight from Chicago to Honduras. Additional tickets have already been booked for this week and the following week.

“If you are here illegally, self-deportation is the best, safest and most cost-effective way to leave the United States to avoid arrest. DHS is now offering illegal aliens financial travel assistance and a stipend to return to their home country through the CBP Home App,” said Secretary Kristi Noem. “This is the safest option for our law enforcement, aliens and is a 70% savings for US taxpayers. Download the CBP Home App TODAY and self-deport.”

Illegal aliens submitting their intent to voluntarily self-deport in CBP Home will also be deprioritized for detention and removal ahead of their departure as long as they demonstrate they are making meaningful strides in completing that departure. Participation in CBP Home Self-Deportation may help preserve the option for an illegal alien to re-enter the United States legally in the future.

Qualifying aliens need to submit their “Intent to Depart” via the CBP Home app. For further information, visit DHS.gov/CBPhome.

Immigration agents arrested more than 32,000 illegal migrants  in Trump’s first 50 days of his second term, according to Homeland Security officials.

Kristi Noem, the Secretary of Homeland Security, also claimed that border encounters have dropped by 95% over Trump’s 100 days.

Homeland Security officials arrested more than 168,000 illegal migrants in 2025, Kristi Noem revealed.

Placards with the faces of illegal migrant criminals were put up outside the White House as the administration boasted about their record.

Henrry Josue Villatoro Santos, the alleged leader of the notorious MS-13 gang, was arrested in March.

He was set to be prosecuted in the US, but Justice Department officials dropped his case two weeks after he was charged.

This is because officials plan to deport him to El Salvador.

Trump’s border enforcer, Noem, toured an El Salvadorian mega prison, the Terrorism Confinement Center known as CECOT.

Trump is reportedly considering plans to deport illegal migrants to Rwanda and Libya.

Homeland Security officials believe self-deportation is a more dignified way of leaving the country.

And, bosses have revealed that the average cost to arrest, detain, and deport one illegal migrant costs more than $17,000 per person.

But, the raids have sparked fears among some communities across the US.

Cinco de Mayo celebrations in Chicago neighborhoods were axed while other communities scaled back events, per CNN.

Some residents are reportedly scared that they could be arrested by cops.

“We are not going to take a chance,” Olga Rentaria, the organizer of a Philadelphia festival, told CNN.

A Latino festival in Washington was also canceled in light of the immigration raids.
