Chicago police issue alert on series of necklace-snatching robberies in Loop, Grant Park

CHICAGO (WLS) — Chicago police issued an alert Monday about a series of robberies downtown in which suspects snatched gold necklaces off victims.

In each incident, the suspects targeted lone, unsuspecting victims on park property, and stole gold chains and necklaces from them.

The suspects are described as one to four men and women ages 20 to 40 and one male suspect in a black T-shirt, blue jeans and white gym shoes.

The crimes took place at the following times and locations:

– 9:30 p.m. on August 1 at the 1100-block of South Columbus Drive in Grant Park
– 9:45 p.m. on August 2 at the 200-block of East Balbo Drive in Grant Park
– 3:44 p.m. on August 11 at the 300-block of South Columbus in Grant Park
– 5:25 p.m. on August 13 at the 300-block of East Wacker Drive in the New Eastside
– 8:43 a.m. on August 22 at the 0-100 block of East Wacker in the Loop
– 8:48 a.m. on August 22 at the 0-100 block of East Wacker in the Loop
– 11 a.m. on August 22 at the 200-block of East Roosevelt Road in Grant Park
– 4:12 p.m. on August 29 at the 100-200 block of East Wacker in the Loop
