A true crime content creator is facing a wiretapping charge after authorities say she shared a secretly recorded phone conversation involving Patrick Clancy’s father, who told police he answered the call by mistake.
Shawna Gramkow, who runs multiple true crime social media accounts with a combined following of more than 50,000 people, was charged with felony unlawful wiretapping on Oct. 20. The case stems from a Sept. 4 report involving Christopher Clancy, Patrick Clancy’s father, according to a police incident report obtained by News Outlet.
Investigators said Gramkow posted an Instagram video on Aug. 30 showing an unidentified person calling a number she said belonged to Patrick Clancy. The number had reportedly been read aloud in court by Lindsay Clancy’s attorney, Kevin Reddington, during her murder trial.

“So, you guys voted and Patrick said yes. During the trial, Kevin Reddington disclosed Patrick’s phone number, and one of you decided to call him. On this specific call, Patrick’s dad was still connected. He was sort of mumbling on the phone, apparently unaware that the call was still active,” Gramkow said in the video, according to police.
A detective who reviewed the footage said an adult male could be heard speaking, although the words were not clear. When Christopher Clancy contacted police on Sept. 4, he said he believed the voice belonged to him and came from a call he received Aug. 6.

Christopher Clancy told investigators that he inadvertently answered the call from an unfamiliar number rather than rejecting it. Police allege the caller recorded him without permission while he discussed his eldest son, Brian, and later uploaded the conversation to Gramkow’s Instagram account.
“Mr. Clancy recalls that while driving in Scituate around Aug. 6, 2026, he received a call from an unknown telephone number. Rather than decline the call, he believes he accidentally answered, leaving an open line for the unidentified caller, who recorded his remarks without his knowledge or consent. Mr. Clancy recognized some of the comments as referring to his eldest son, Brian,” police stated.
Although Massachusetts authorities have charged Gramkow with wiretapping, officials in Florida said she has not been taken into custody.
News Outlet contacted Gramkow for a response. In a Facebook video that did not directly mention the criminal case, she rejected the allegations, calling them “false” and “easy to prove.”

The wiretapping case emerged as the legal approaches of Patrick and Lindsay Clancy appeared to diverge in their separate civil lawsuits against her medical providers.
At a Wednesday hearing in Norfolk County Superior Court, attorney Howard Cooper said he expects Lindsay Clancy to give testimony in Patrick Clancy’s lawsuit against the healthcare professionals who treated her.
“We believe Lindsay Clancy, once her Fifth Amendment issues are resolved one way or the other, will testify that she specifically told these defendants she was experiencing homicidal ideation and feared something terrible might happen to her children,” Cooper told the court.
Reddington disputed that account in a statement provided to News Outlet. He said Lindsay Clancy has never indicated that she would testify and denied that she told her healthcare providers she had homicidal thoughts about her children.
“I have learned that counsel for Patrick Clancy told the court in his civil case that my client, Lindsay Clancy, will testify about statements she made to her healthcare providers,” Reddington said. “Lindsay Clancy never told any healthcare provider that she had homicidal ideation toward her children. She never said she planned to testify in Mr. Clancy’s lawsuit, and no one acting on her behalf ever represented that she would.”

“Patrick Clancy’s attorney does not speak for Lindsay Clancy,” he added.
Lindsay Clancy was charged with three counts of first-degree murder in connection with the deaths of her children, who were found strangled at the family’s home in January 2023.
Judge William Sullivan declared a mistrial Friday, Sept. 4, after the jury failed to reach a unanimous decision. Jurors were reportedly deadlocked 11-1.
