Fahey calls out ‘performative’ protest outside New Jersey ICE facility
Reporting live from the Newark ICE facility, Fox News’ Alexis McAdams covers the heated protests where some New Jersey lawmakers are joining activists to call for the center’s closure. Former Acting ICE Director Jonathan Fahey challenges their stance, citing Department of Homeland Security (DHS) data that reveals the detention of numerous criminal illegal immigrants, including those wanted for severe offenses like homicide and sexual crimes. He accuses Democrats of shielding these individuals.
The Department of Homeland Security recently announced the arrest of several illegal immigrants in New Jersey, some of whom have past convictions for serious offenses such as manslaughter, sexual crimes, and weapons charges.
These U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) arrests coincide with intense protests outside Newark’s Delaney Hall ICE detention center, where activists are decrying the conditions faced by immigrants held there.
“Despite misleading claims from sanctuary politicians and leftist agitators about the Delaney Hall ICE facility, the dedicated personnel of ICE remain committed to removing criminal illegal aliens from New Jersey,” stated DHS acting assistant secretary Lauren Bis in an interview. “In New Jersey, they have successfully apprehended dangerous individuals with criminal backgrounds including voluntary manslaughter, sexual assault, burglary, fraud, terroristic threats, and aggravated assault.”
Federal immigration officers faced off with demonstrators outside Delaney Hall in Newark, New Jersey, on Thursday.
Lauren Bis further criticized, “These sanctuary politicians must cease spreading falsehoods about ICE detention centers and should instead acknowledge the efforts of ICE officers in clearing New Jersey streets of these criminals. We are determined not to let violent protesters hinder our mission to enhance America’s safety.”
