Dr. James Dobson, founder of the Focus on the Family Christian ministry and former advisor to five U.S. presidents, has died at 89.
Dobson, a psychologist widely acknowledged as one of the most influential Christian figures over the last fifty years, passed away Thursday morning, as reported by the Dr. James Dobson Family Institute (JDFI).
“Dr. Dobson was a trailblazer— a man with unwavering conviction whose influence shaped how generations perceive faith, family, and culture,” stated Gary Bauer, senior vice president of public policy at the JDFI.
“His courageous leadership, moral integrity, and empathy empowered numerous families to thrive amidst a world with evolving values. He served as a mentor, a guide, and a consistent voice of truth during uncertain times.”
Dobson founded Focus on the Family in 1977 and grew into one of the largest evangelical ministries in the world.
In 2010, after parting ways with Focus, Dobson established JDFI as a more intimate institute to carry on his mission, focusing more intently on his own broadcasting and teachings.
This a developing story and will be updated.
