A former midshipman has been apprehended by law enforcement for reportedly issuing an online threat concerning the United States Naval Academy located in Annapolis, Maryland.
Jackson Fleming, a 23-year-old from Chesterton, Indiana, faces charges of transmitting a threat via interstate communication, as detailed in a press release by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Indiana.
Authorities detained Fleming on Friday, suspecting him of sending an online threat related to the Naval Academy through social media the previous day. Charges were pressed on Sunday.

The Naval Academy’s spokesperson chose not to comment on a potential link between Fleming’s detention and the security event when contacted by Fox News Digital. However, they did confirm that Fleming was enrolled as a midshipman at the Naval Academy from June 30, 2021, until January 5, 2024.
This situation is being examined by the FBI and the Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS), with support from the Porter County Sheriff’s Office, according to details from the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
