Kianna Galvin vanished on May 6, 2016, at the age of 17. On that day, she informed her family she was headed to Jim Hansen Park, a nearby location, but she never made it back home.
As the anniversary of her disappearance approaches, authorities have announced plans for a forensic excavation at a residence located in the 800-block of Revere Road. This decision follows findings from a ground-penetrating radar (GPR) scan that detected unusual disturbances beneath the property’s surface, according to the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office.
To facilitate the excavation, a section of Revere Road will be temporarily closed on Thursday, remaining inaccessible until the investigative work is completed.
Investigators are targeting the home after a GPR scan that “revealed anomalies beneath the surface.”
A portion of Revere Road will be closed on Thursday until the excavation is completed.
Chopper 7 was over the house at 8:30 a.m. where multiple investigation tents were seen on the driveway and in the backyard.
South Elgin Police Department and Fox Valley Major Crimes Task Force will conduct the excavation.
“Ten years have passed since Kianna disappeared, and the weight of that loss is still deeply felt by her family, her friends, and this entire community,” said Kane County State’s Attorney Jamie L. Mosser. “My heart remains with all who continue to carry that pain. We have not forgotten Kianna, and we remain steadfast in our commitment to seek the truth. It is my hope that renewed efforts will finally bring the answers her family deserves. I urge anyone with information, no matter how small it may seem, to come forward and contact the police.”
