WASHINGTON — Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel has announced that Cuba is on high alert for a possible attack from the United States, expressing his readiness to resist President Trump even at the cost of his life.
Since December, the U.S. has implemented a blockade against Venezuela as part of Operation Southern Spear, effectively disrupting oil supplies to Cuba and deepening the country’s energy crisis.
“I don’t believe there is any justification for the United States to carry out a military assault on Cuba, nor for them to engage in a surgical strike or a presidential abduction,” Díaz-Canel stated during an appearance on NBC’s “Meet the Press” on Sunday, according to a translation.
