A second detainee passed away after a gunman opened fire on a Dallas Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) center last week, the Department of Homeland Security confirmed to Fox News.
The League of United Latin American Citizens identified the victim as Miguel Ángel García-Hernández, aged 32. Reports state he was taken off life support following the sniper attack on September 24.
García-Hernández leaves behind four young children and his wife, who is expecting their fifth child.
Miguel Ángel García-Hernández, 32, appeared on a family GoFundMe page and was confirmed as the second detainee killed in the sniper assault at the Dallas ICE facility on September 24, 2025. Emergency vehicles responded to the incident, as shown on the left of the provided image.
Officials stated that Joshua Jahn, 29, orchestrated the sniper attack with the intention of spreading terror by targeting federal agents. Following the assault, Jahn took his own life.
The incident occurred as ICE officers were transporting detainees to the agency’s Dallas location. Sources from ICE disclosed to Fox News that the detainees were inside a law enforcement van at the time of the shooting. Federal agents reported that rounds found near Jahn’s body had anti-ICE messages inscribed on them.
FBI Director Kash Patel mentioned that Jahn had downloaded a document before the attack, titled “Dallas County Office of Homeland Security & Emergency Management,” which listed various DHS facilities.
Between Aug. 19 and Aug. 24, Jahn also searched apps that tracked the presence of ICE agents, Patel said. In the hours before the shooting, he looked up ballistics information and the “Charlie Kirk Shot Video.”

Investigators also recovered a handwritten note in which Jahn wrote: “Hopefully this will give ICE agents real terror, to think, ‘is there a sniper with AP rounds on that roof?’” Patel said evidence gathered so far indicates a “high degree of pre-attack planning.”
