Russian attack on Odesa, Ukraine, kills married couple, officials say

Ukrainian authorities reported that a Russian drone assault on the southern city of Odesa resulted in the tragic death of an elderly couple and left over a dozen individuals injured. The incident occurred overnight, as confirmed by officials on Friday.

The attack devastated two two-story structures and damaged another similar building where the couple lost their lives, according to emergency services. The assault also damaged apartments in a three-story building, igniting a fire.

Serhiy Lysak, head of the local military administration, revealed on Telegram that the couple, both aged 75, perished during the night-time strike.

Lysak noted that the attack injured 15 people, although emergency services reported a slightly lower count of 14 injured.

He further mentioned that eight of those affected required hospitalization following the incident.

He added that eight of those injured in the attack were treated in hospital.

Lysak posted photos of a building engulfed by fire, and another one with a gaping hole on its side, and emergency crews working inside.
