Investigators with the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said the man was shot around 9 p.m. Sunday night on Palmdale Street.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A man died Monday morning following a shooting that occurred Sunday night on Jacksonville’s Northwest side near the intersection of Lem Turner Road and Edgewood Avenue, as reported by officials from the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

JSO Sgt. La’Tosha Thompson said officers responded to the 2600 block of Palmdale Street around 9 p.m. Sunday to calls of a person shot.

Upon arriving at the location, officers discovered a man in his late 20s who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds. Paramedics from JFRD arrived on the scene and transported the man to the hospital, where he eventually succumbed to his injuries, according to Thompson.

Authorities are still investigating the events that led to the shooting, and have yet to officially determine whether to classify the incident as a homicide or under a different category, Thompson stated.

JSO is urging anyone with information on the shooting to call them at (904) 630-0500, or call Crimestoppers at 1 (866) 845-TIPS.
