Five police officers were shot and three were killed in a shooting in York County, Pennsylvania, on Wednesday, authorities said.
The shooter, who has not yet been publicly identified, is dead, according to Pennsylvania State Police Commissioner Col. Christopher Paris.
Attorney General Pam Bondi condemned the shooting, stating: “Violence against law enforcement is a scourge on our society and never acceptable. Pray for the officers involved.”
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) are providing assistance.
Officials said Pennsylvania State Police are investigating. The ATF confirmed its Harrisburg Field Office special agents are assisting.
She reiterated her condemnation on X by writing a similar message: “Violence against law enforcement is a scourge on our society and never acceptable. Pray for the officers involved.”
Pennsylvania State Police, York County Office of Emergency Management, WellSpan Health, the Philadelphia Mexican Consulate, and Gov. Shapiro’s office did not immediately respond to inquiries from Fox News Digital.
