FBI Raids Downtown LA Luxury High-Rises Under Sealed Warrants

One day after California Gov. Gavin Newsom signaled he could take legal action against the Trump administration over President Donald Trump’s executive order on mail-in ballots, federal law enforcement activity in Downtown Los Angeles drew fresh attention. Before sunrise Tuesday, FBI agents carried out raids at two luxury apartment buildings along Wilshire Boulevard.

The early-morning operation unfolded at two upscale residential towers in the heart of Downtown L.A., drawing a heavy federal presence, circling helicopters and questions from residents startled by the sudden show of force.

ABC7 Los Angeles captured aerial footage showing an LAPD helicopter touching down on the helipad of the Apex building, where FBI agents in tactical gear were seen taking part in the operation.

Authorities have released few details. An FBI spokesperson confirmed only that federal search warrants were executed in the downtown area and that the Los Angeles Police Department provided assistance as part of the investigation.

AIR7 video showed the LAPD helicopter landing on the helipad of the Apex building on West 9th Street as the operation continued below.

Armed FBI agents wearing tactical equipment were seen seated along the edge of the helicopter before leaving the helipad and moving into the building. Plainclothes federal agents were also spotted outside the property.

The search warrant remains under seal, leaving the public with few confirmed answers and prompting a wave of online speculation about the purpose of the raids.

By Tuesday afternoon, the story was spreading quickly across social media. One theory circulating on X linked the timing to a recent post from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Central District of California referencing an election-fraud crackdown and expected arrests. Another suggested possible foreign-influence or CCP-related concerns because of the international profile of some residents in the luxury towers. Neither theory has been confirmed by authorities.

Here is the X post from First Assistant United States District Attorney Bill Essayli, alluding to mail ballot fraud and possible arrests.

These measures wouldn’t be necessary if states like California didn’t allow non-citizens to easily register to vote and get mail ballots.

We are actively identifying ineligible citizens on California’s dirty voter rolls and will soon announce criminal arrests related to our election fraud investigation.

Thus far, there is no clear connection between Essayli’s post and this early morning raid. However, between the Department of Justice Civil Rights Division lawsuit against California for its refusal to turn over the state’s voter rolls, coupled with Newsom’s panties being in a wad over Trump’s election integrity actions, there is something afoot.

As stated on Monday, Newsom and First Partner Jennifer Siebel Newsom are under DOJ investigation, so Newsom forcing further scrutiny through yet another lawsuit against the Trump administration could well be the legal and political rope by which he hangs himself out to dry.

This is a developing story. RedState will update as information becomes available.

Editor’s Note: The 2026 Midterms will determine the fate of President Trump’s America First agenda. Republicans must maintain control of both chambers of Congress.
