A man from Florida is now facing seven felony charges following his arrest over the weekend, linked to a road rage incident, officials have reported.
Identified as Blackie Alvarez, 33, from Bonifay, Florida, he was detained after allegedly brandishing a handgun at another motorist during a heated exchange on the road, as detailed by the Walton County Sheriff’s Office.
The incident unfolded around 1 p.m. on February 8, when authorities received a call about a man threatening other drivers with a firearm while heading north on U.S. 331 in DeFuniak Springs.

Upon locating the white Ford Explorer involved, officers observed the driver, later confirmed to be Alvarez. He promptly exited his vehicle and placed a black handgun, previously tucked in his waistband, on the car’s roof.
In addition to the firearm, police discovered two sets of metal knuckles in Alvarez’s possession, further compounding the seriousness of the charges against him.
Two metal knuckles were also found in Alvarez’s pockets, police said.
Investigators said Alvarez began speeding and honking at the victims, who told deputies that Alvarez sped around them before coming to a complete stop in front of their vehicle, where he allegedly pulled out a firearm and pointed it at them.
Alvarez refused to speak with investigators, police said.
