Gigi Hadid has started the year with a striking change in her hairstyle.
The renowned model has swapped her signature California blonde locks for a sleek black bob, as revealed in photos posted on Instagram by her hairstylist, Dimitris Giannetos, this past Thursday.
While Hadid has previously experimented with darker shades, she has typically not maintained them for long, and certainly not this intensely dark.
Giannetos refers to this new look as the “matte black mini bob.” The photo series showcases her dramatically dark hair styled in a side-parted, wet look, with the sharp bob cut just skimming below her chin.
In his caption, Giannetos mentions, “New color | cut for my beautiful @gigihadid for @maybelline,” leaving it ambiguous whether this is a temporary makeover for the photo shoot or the beginning of a new beauty chapter for the 30-year-old.
Maybelline unveiled their latest advertisement for Lash Sensational Body Mascara on Friday morning, featuring Hadid proudly sporting her bold new hair color.
For the shoot, the model wore a sheer black catsuit, over which was layered an elongated boned corset around her waist.
Fans were loving the new look in Giannetos’ comment section, with tons dropping fire emojis.
“Woooow She’s perfect,” cooed one fan. “THIS COLOR IS EVERYTHING,” said a second and a third declared “that cut is razor sharp.” Tons of others compared Gigi to her sister and fellow model, Bella, who has been wearing her darker hair in a platinum shade as of late.
“Hadid sisters are switched,” on person wrote. “Gigi with black hair reminds us of Bella, and Bella reminds us of Gigi, and it was as if they were saying, ‘We are one🌸’,” observed another fan.
Many also asserted that Gigi “pulls off any shade” — and we’re wondering how many the star will experiment with in 2026.
