Lilly Bova, a 16-year-old student from Glenbrook South High School, tragically lost her life to gun violence. Her mother is urging authorities to charge the teenage boy she suspects is responsible for her daughter’s death.
In March, Bova was discovered with a fatal gunshot wound at an apartment complex located in the unincorporated area of Glenview.

The incident occurred on March 28, around 11 a.m., at the 3600 block of South Salem Walk, near the Salem Walk Apartments, according to the Cook County Sheriff’s Office.
Upon arrival, officers found Bova suffering from a gunshot wound. Emergency personnel performed CPR and rushed her to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital, but unfortunately, she succumbed to her injuries.
Speaking with ABC7 nearly two months after the incident, Christine Maga, Bova’s mother, revealed that a 16-year-old boy turned himself in to police but was released due to his age. She continues to push for justice in her daughter’s case.
“Justice for Lilly Bell means holding this person accountable for their actions, someone she trusted, with no respect for her life, walking around and enjoying his,” Maga said.
The Cook County State’s Attorney’s office released a statement Sunday, saying in part that the investigation remains active and charging decisions are made after a full review of evidence.
