A Northern Virginia real estate professional was allegedly shot and killed inside her home by her husband Tuesday, authorities said, setting off a regional search that ended with his arrest in Pennsylvania several hours later.
Roger Bradford, 60, of Aldie, faces charges of first-degree murder and using a firearm during the commission of a felony in connection with the death of his wife, 54-year-old Lisa Bradford, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies went to a residence in the 24000 block of Quimby Oaks Place shortly after noon after a family member alerted authorities, alleging that Roger Bradford had been involved in Lisa Bradford’s death and requesting a welfare check, Loudoun County Sheriff Mike Chapman said at a Tuesday news briefing.
Deputies found Lisa Bradford dead when they arrived. Her husband was no longer at the residence and was believed to have left in a rental vehicle.

Authorities traced the rental car as it headed north, expanding the investigation across Virginia, Maryland and Pennsylvania.
Pennsylvania State Police apprehended Bradford in Bedford at approximately 3:15 p.m., about three hours after deputies first arrived at the Aldie home, FOX 5 DC reported.
Investigators said the shooting appears to have stemmed from a domestic situation. However, officials had not established whether the couple had a history of domestic-related incidents.

“We just don’t know,” Chapman said when asked about any previous incidents.
Authorities said a handgun was used in the fatal shooting, but the weapon had not been found by Tuesday afternoon.

Detectives were preparing to carry out additional searches at the residence and inside the rental car Bradford allegedly used to leave the area.
“We’re still in the infancy of this case,” Chapman told reporters.

Officials said they did not believe anyone else was inside the home when the shooting occurred.
The Bradfords’ three children—two college students and one high school student—had been informed of their mother’s death.
Chapman also said Roger Bradford had some prior criminal history, though the sheriff did not immediately have specific information available.
Lisa Bradford worked full time as a Northern Virginia real estate agent and had held a professional license since 2008, according to her Compass profile.
Before entering real estate, she graduated from Miami University and spent 10 years working for Ford Motor Company.
Roger Bradford remained in Pennsylvania pending extradition to Virginia. The sheriff’s office said there was no continuing threat to the public.
