Illinois mom gets face ripped apart by rescue dog after suffering seizure

Illinois Mom Survives Vicious Attack by Rescue Dog Amid Seizure: A Harrowing Tale of Survival and Resilience

Warning: Disturbing Content

A young mother from Peoria, Illinois, was left with devastating facial injuries after her family’s rescue pit bull attacked her during a seizure. The harrowing incident occurred on March 2 when 25-year-old Karma Davis suffered an epileptic episode, losing consciousness and collapsing onto her kitchen floor.

In a heartfelt plea on GoFundMe, Karma recounted how their family dog, Fayzo, inflicted severe damage to her face during the seizure. Graphic images shared on the platform reveal the extent of the injuries, showing how the dog brutally mauled her from cheek to cheek, causing catastrophic damage to her lips and leaving the lower half of her face severely torn.

The attack resulted in the loss of a significant portion of Karma’s left cheek, as well as parts of her nose and left ear. This tragic incident underscores the unpredictable nature of pets, even those beloved by their families.

The images show that the dog mauled her nearly cheek to cheek, practically eating her lips and leaving the bottom half of her face torn wide open.

Along with her lips, Karma lost a large portion of her left cheek, as well as the bottom of her nose and left ear.

Her right ear was partially torn, but surgeons were able to reattach it later.

Davis, a mother of one, said she did not know what happened during her seizure as she woke up in shock to call her fiancé, Trenton Davis.

“I ended up finding my iPad and I messaged Trent who was at work,” Davis told The Sun.

“He told me to video chat him as he could sense something wasn’t right. It was during that video chat we both realized the extent of what had happened,” she said.

“I started freaking out. “I kept saying, ‘Fayzo ate my face. I look like a skeleton. My lips are gone,’” Davis added.

Davis was rushed to a hospital where she was placed in a medically induced coma for nearly three days as the mother was forced to undergo weeks of reconstructive surgeries to try and save her face.

She continues to undergo regular visits with plastic surgeons, with Davis dependent on a G-tube for nourishment because she is unable to eat normally due to her wounds.

Fayzo, who the family had for four years, was taken away by animal control and euthanized following the attack.

Davis said she felt sorry for the pit bull, who was rescued from an abusive home, but she admitted she could not feel safe at home if he was still there.

“I miss him but I definitely wouldn’t want him back,” she told The Sun. “Seeing pictures of him in my camera roll is actually a little traumatic still.
