Two people, including an infant, were killed Saturday night after a boat overturned near Liberty Island in New York Harbor, authorities said.
The NYPD told News Outlet that officers were called to the area around 10:25 p.m. following a report of a capsized vessel near the island.
Authorities said 12 people had already been pulled from the water before police arrived at the scene.
NYPD divers later found an adult woman and an infant in the water. Both were taken in critical condition to NYU Langone Hospital in Brooklyn, where they were pronounced dead. Officials have not released their names.

Police said several other passengers were also brought to the hospital and are believed to be in stable condition.
Investigators are still working to determine what caused the boat to capsize. Police said no arrests have been made.
A police source told News Outlet the boat was a 22-foot bowrider.
The NYPD’s Harbor Unit, Scuba Team and Aviation Unit responded to the scene along with the U.S. Coast Guard.
