JD Vance celebrates '250 years of America facing the future without fear' in 4th of July address in NYC

Vice President JD Vance praised President Trump for “reviving this proud Naval tradition” as he spoke to sailors aboard the USS Kearsarge in New York City during the Sail4th 250 celebration.

With New York Harbor behind him, Vance thanked the sailors on board before describing the occasion as a distinctly American display of strength and heritage. “It is a very American thing to ring in 250 years of American history by parading our naval and air force might for the world to see,” he said.

Joining the International Naval Review on Saturday, the vice president framed the event as a celebration of the nation’s resilience. “Today we celebrate 250 years of America facing the future without fear,” he said.

Vance also tied the milestone to the country’s founding ideals and faith tradition, adding, “We celebrate 250 years of proving what a free people can achieve by the providence of our Almighty Creator.”

Vance opened his remarks on a lighter note, acknowledging the sweltering conditions and joking that his team had prepared a much longer speech than the crowd might have hoped for.

“I know it’s 100 degrees out here,” he said, “but my speechwriters wrote me a nice, 9-hour address, so it’s gonna be a long day.”
