BROADVIEW, Ill. (WLS) — On Thursday, a judge is likely to implement a temporary restraining order against the federal authorities concerning their application of force towards protesters and the press attending demonstrations at the Broadview ICE center.

The Department of Homeland Security says protesters blocked ICE agents and ignored orders to move, forcing officers to use pepper balls.

The lawsuit includes NABET CWA Local 41, which represents members of ABC7 Chicago and other local TV stations.

Pastor David Black is also among the plaintiffs. Video from September 19 shows him yelling at officers on the roof before being hit by pepper balls.

A video reveals an ICE agent firing pepper balls at the demonstrators, striking Black on the top of his head, resulting in him collapsing to the ground.

Black told Religion News Service that he was inviting the ICE agents to repent when the video was recorded.

“I basically offered an alter call,” Black told RNS. “I invited them to come and receive that salvation, and be part of the kingdom that is coming.”
