Karol G to Headline NFL Halftime Show in Brazil, will stream on YouTube

Karol G Set to Perform at NFL Halftime Show in Brazil, Event to Stream Live on YouTube

The game is free to stream for fans across the globe, exclusively through YouTube and YouTube TV.

NEW YORK — Bringing football fans, Brazil and Karol G together for a one-night experience? That’s a winning formula.

An award-winning musician will take center stage during the halftime show of YouTube’s debut exclusive NFL streaming event next month. This event is set to broadcast live from Corinthians Arena in São Paulo, Brazil, on September 5. It coincides with the NFL’s week 1 showdown between the Los Angeles Chargers and the Kansas City Chiefs, last year’s AFC champions.

“This year has been exceptionally fulfilling, and having the chance to be involved in YouTube’s inaugural NFL live broadcast is incredibly well-timed,” the artist expressed in a special statement. “My latest album, ‘Tropicoqueta,’ aims to embody the diverse aspects of Latin culture—a passion that influences all my endeavors. I’m thrilled to project that enthusiasm and pride onto a worldwide platform and honored to further uplift Latin culture on such a grand stage.”

This collaboration is seamless. Karol G has a massive international following, American football’s appeal is expanding globally, and Brazil is home to numerous dedicated music enthusiasts. This explains why “Come to Brazil” has become a popular meme, representing the pinnacle of fandom.

“Our objective is to showcase the thrill and American spirit of the NFL while thoughtfully integrating local cultures, customs, and traditions,” commented Tim Tubito, the NFL’s senior director of global game presentation and entertainment.

Choosing Karol G as the performer “not only excites our fans but also respects their South American cultural roots, impacting audiences worldwide,” Tubito continued. “We anticipate a historic celebration for all our fans.”

The game will be available to stream for free globally, exclusively via YouTube and YouTube TV. It starts at 5 p.m. Pacific / 8 p.m. Eastern / 9 p.m. BRT. A pre-show will begin an hour earlier.

“To celebrate this moment, we are thrilled that global superstar Karol G will perform during our halftime show,” said Angela Courtin, VP of sports and entertainment marketing at YouTube in a statement. “The game and performance will be broadcast worldwide for free on YouTube, blending the fandom of sports and music together for one epic cultural moment.”
