LANSING, Ill. (WLS) — A former employee has been charged with murder in connection with the fatal shooting of a worker earlier this month at an automotive paint company in south suburban Lansing, police said.

Lansing police announced Wednesday that Devon A. Johnson, 31, of Thornton, is facing a first-degree murder charge. Authorities said Johnson previously worked at the business where the shooting took place.

The case stems from a June 4 shooting at Nippon Paint Automotive Americas near 170th Street and Oakwood Avenue. Officers responding to reports of an active shooter arrived at the scene and found an employee dead from a single gunshot wound, according to police.
