Dominic Haines Jefferson Georgia wrestler update from graduation

Dominic Haines was seriously injured at the tournament in February. He is continuing to work to recover and also recently went to prom.

JEFFERSON, Ga. — This weekend, Dominic Haines, the Jefferson High wrestler who suffered a neck injury at the state championships in February, proudly walked across the stage during graduation. This significant moment highlighted his unwavering determination in the months following his injury.

11Alive’s Kaitlyn Ross posted the update on Haines, who initially had no feeling from the shoulders down after the injury.

“He was resolute in his decision to finish high school alongside his peers. Today, supported by friends, family, and a community that has continuously rallied around him, he achieved that goal,” Kaitlyn shared on Facebook. “Dominic’s courage, strength, and resilience have moved thousands. He has already achieved more than many do in a lifetime—not merely by graduating, but by demonstrating to the world what it means to give everything you have.”

Haines also marked a milestone last month when he was voted the school’s prom king.

In March, 11Alive reported he had transferred to the Shepherd Center in Atlanta, a facility known for its expertise in spinal cord rehabilitation.
