LOS ANGELES — The distinctive show “LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy: Pieces of the Past” brings back two brothers in a tangled galaxy far, far away. The second installment of this LEGO-Star Wars blend is soaring back onto Disney+.
The follow-up retains the series’ original themes and embraces creative experiments, introducing fresh characters and keeping the essence of “Star Wars” at the forefront, while enjoying the distinctive aspects of the LEGO world.
“We truly made this series as a homage to those two fan communities, to LEGO Star Wars, crafted by enthusiasts for enthusiasts,” explained executive producer and writer Benji Samit.
“However, in writing a tribute to those fans, we aimed to offer them a new narrative that genuinely matched the spirit of what they adore,” stated executive producer and writer Dan Hernandez.
Gaten Matarazzo lends his voice to the series.
“It presents a fantastic chance to introduce the ‘Star Wars’ universe to younger audiences and new fans without revealing too much,” Matarazzo said. “But the exciting part is the deeper a ‘Star Wars’ enthusiast you are, the more you’ll enjoy the nods and references.”
“This is indeed a ‘Star Wars’ saga, and though it has LEGO charm and is a bit quirky, at its core, in its essence, it’s a remarkable ‘Star Wars’ tale,” Hernandez remarked.
“We want everyone to feel welcomed in it. We don’t want to gatekeep with references or anything. We hope that whether this be the first ‘Star Wars’ thing you’re watching or just the latest in all of them, we hope you love it because we put in our passion for it and we hope that shines through,” actor Tony Revolori said.
“LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy: Pieces of the Past” returns Sept. 19 on Disney+.
The Walt Disney Company is the parent company of Disney+ and this ABC station.
