Creating a billion-pound company

Tom Beahon worked as a Tranmere Rovers youth teamer before founding Castore in 2016.

His brother Phil was a semi-pro cricketer, during this time.

Eventually, they opted to launch Castore from their kitchen table after feeling frustrated by the lack of high-quality men’s sportswear available.

Despite the company’s huge success, the brothers have revealed that they still live humble lifestyles.

Tom said: “I am still the proud owner of a white VW Polo that must be seven, eight years old.

“I still drive that. I’ve not been on holiday for a while. Neither my brother nor I are massively materialistic people.

“We get into the office at 5.30 in the morning and don’t leave until after eight, nine in the evening, so there isn’t a lot of time to buy stuff.

“Our mum and dad remortgaged their house when we started the company and that was a big, big deal.

“So we bought them a nice house in a nice area 18 months ago, so I guess it came full circle.”

Joining the rich list

According to the Sunday Times Rich List, the brothers are now worth £350 million.

The brand quickly gained fame through a series of notable collaborations, including a partnership that resulted in the England rugby team donning their gear.

In merely a decade, the brothers’ brand has progressed from securing its first factory agreement to landing significant kit deals with Premier League football teams, the Oracle Red Bull Racing Formula 1 team, and the England and Wales Cricket Board.

Castore also works with Formula 1 team McLaren, Premiership rugby side Saracens and a growing roster of football clubs, including Rangers, Newcastle United and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

In 2024 alone, the pair saw their wealth grow by £16 million with investors like tennis superstar Andy Murrary joining the brand.

Castore’s plan for growth

While being mainly online, the success of the Beahon brothers’ brand has led to the opening of a string of Castore shops.

Tom explained: ”I have always believed that people enjoy the social aspect of shopping, it’s something a lot want to do on a Saturday.

”People can touch and feel and try on the products, and that’s something you can’t replicate online.”

The entrepreneur also revealed that he wants Castore to be the world’s “number one premium sportswear brand” – taking on the likes of Adidas and Nike.

Castore has also started to collaborate with other fashion brands. In 2024, Castore joined forces with Reiss for a third time on a range of workout clothes.
