An unfortunate accident unfolded in a Middleburg neighborhood on Friday morning when an 11-year-old was struck by a school bus, as reported by the Florida Highway Patrol. The incident involved the young child on an electric scooter, attempting to navigate across the road simultaneously with the bus.
The collision took place at the intersection of Pine Ridge Parkway and Creek Bluff Lane, just before 8 a.m., according to a spokesperson from the Clay County Sheriff’s Office. Responding swiftly, deputies arrived at the scene shortly after the crash occurred.
The report from FHP details that the child was crossing Creek Bluff Lane on their scooter when they collided with the left front of the bus. This led to the child sustaining serious injuries and being transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.
