Milwaukee County Judge Hannah Dugan indicted after allegedly helping illegal alien evade ICE

A Milwaukee County Judge, Hannah Dugan, has been found guilty of obstructing federal immigration officials during a courthouse incident earlier this year. This conviction arises from a jury’s determination that Dugan interfered with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents as they attempted to serve a warrant.

The felony obstruction charge could see Dugan facing a prison sentence of up to five years. Her legal troubles stem from an incident in April when Dugan reportedly assisted Eduardo Flores-Ruiz in avoiding arrest by ICE agents. According to the prosecution, she facilitated his escape from her courtroom through a back exit, once she became aware that the agents were in the courthouse to apprehend him.

In an image captured by Lee Matz for the Milwaukee Independent, Judge Hannah Dugan is seen addressing supporters during a pro-Ukraine rally on February 24, 2025. This scene is a testament to her active engagement in community and civic issues.

Despite the jury’s decision, Dugan’s defense team remains resolute. In their statement, they expressed disappointment but highlighted the partial victory of the acquittal on a misdemeanor charge of concealing an individual to prevent arrest. “This outcome provides us with a chance to vindicate Judge Dugan and prove her innocence,” the defense remarked. They further emphasized the importance of public support for Dugan’s defense fund as they gear up for the next phase of their legal battle.

“While we are disappointed in today’s outcome, the failure of the prosecution to secure convictions on both counts demonstrates the opportunity we have to clear Judge Dugan’s name and show she did nothing wrong in this matter,” Dugan’s defense team said in a statement. “We have planned for this potential outcome and our defense of Judge Dugan is just beginning. This trial required considerable resources to prepare for and public support for Judge Dugan’s defense fund is critical as we prepare for the next phase of this defense.”

The jury also acquitted Dugan on a misdemeanor count of concealing an individual to prevent arrest.

This is a developing story; check back for updates.
