Samantha Baker's neighbor reveals chilling details of 'loud' fight before teen son allegedly stabbed her to death

An Alabama mother who was allegedly killed by her teenage son had argued with him earlier that day over her Facebook posts, including remarks in which she had complained about his “attitude,” a neighbor told The Post. The confrontation came hours before the violent attack that also left the woman’s husband critically injured.

Samantha Baker, 37, was found dead late Sunday outside a home on Augustine Drive in the private Belforest community after suffering multiple stab wounds. According to next-door neighbor Shawn Scurry, Baker had tried to discipline her 17-year-old son, Brandon, during a heated exchange earlier in the day.

Surveillance footage from Scurry’s home captured portions of the tense argument, which appeared to unfold on the family’s front porch around 2:30 p.m.

Scurry said she believed the dispute centered on Samantha’s Facebook activity, where the mother often posted about her two sons and family life.

“He was asking about a comment, and she was saying it was just a story,” Scurry said. “She was saying … it wasn’t about him.”

The 51-year-old neighbor said the argument was “loud” and gave her the impression that Samantha’s repeated posts about Brandon may have been upsetting him.

“She does talk kind of rude about the kids … and, you know, they are teenagers,” Scurry said.

Police said the couple’s 16-year-old son was not home when his older brother allegedly attacked their parents with a kitchen knife and chased them out of the residence in the well-kept complex.

Chilling photos shared by Samantha on Facebook show her and Lance posing cheerily with their boys at high school football games, on a dock and inside a church.

“I love being a football mom. I don’t love the way they smell but hard work does stink!” the mom captioned one Oct. 6, 2025, post, along with a carousel of images showing her sons on the field and smiling after a game.

“Welcome to the Baker house…we laugh then holler then act like nothing happened until it’s time to holler and laugh again. It’s a s*** show over here. Enter at your own risk,” she captioned another post a week later.

But her posts sometimes hinted at less rosy family dynamics.

In one post for “National Sons’ Day” last year, the mom wrote that her Brandon was “a sweet guy” — but then noted “his mouth and attitude.”

“He’s a calm presence until he isn’t. He marches to the beat of his own drum,” Samantha continued in the caption.

And in a final birthday post dedicated to him, in September, she wrote, “You are an amazing person and yet at the same time you make my blood boil.”

More recently, in January, Samantha reposted a head-scratching meme that read: “Gentle parenting is for gentle children. My thugs will be handled accordingly.”

She shared a similar — now eerie meme — last May as well. It read: “Only parents with gentle children can gentle parent. The rest of us have to square up, and fight for our lives with the tiny bullies we made,” alongside her caption, “And I do square up! I don’t have gentle kids! They are feral.”

According to Scurry, Samantha ultimately put her foot down on Sunday, ending the argument.

“She [got] the final say and that was for him to go do his chore, which is to mow the lawn” — which he then did, she recalled.

“I always saw him mowing the lawn … so it didn’t seem like it was a problem for him to do it that day,” added Scurry, who said it was her first time hearing the family argue in roughly one year since she moved next door.

Brandon is now facing murder and attempted murder charges after Samantha and her husband, 46-year-old Lance Baker, were found with numerous stab wounds hours later at around 9 p.m., according to cops.

The bloodbath began after the parents got into a separate argument with their son over a disciplinary issue inside the house, Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office Captain Justin Correa told The Post Wednesday.

That’s when Brandon grabbed the knife and began wielding it at his mom and dad — stabbing them both repeatedly as they fled outside in a desperate bid to escape, according to cops and Scurry.

“You can hear both of them coming out of the house, and there’s like one scream from the mom,” said Scurry, whose Nest camera picked up audio of the sickening assault.

“Then the dad is arguing with the [son] — and when I say arguing, I mean like, ‘Why are you doing this?’ … He’s basically saying, ‘I don’t want to die. Please stop. No.’ And then he’s repeating, ‘Somebody help me, please, help me’ very loudly,” the shaken neighbor explained.

At one point, the audio captures the teen “telling [the dad] he was gonna kill him. Those words are in the video,” she added.

Lance’s spine-chilling screams could still be heard as he ran door to door down the block, leaving bloodied handprints on neighbors’ front doors while seeking help — with his son right on his tail, according to Scurry.

The teen eventually went back home and called 911, said authorities, who described the attack as an isolated domestic matter.

Cops arrested him without incident, according to Correa.

Samantha, a realtor, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Before the coroner arrived, “I saw her face down with stab wounds all over her back,” Scurry told The Post.

Lance, a US Army Reserve Battalion Commander with the 1184th Deployment and Distribution Support Battalion in Mobile, was flown to a local hospital in critical condition, according to cops.

As of Wednesday, the father of two was still in the hospital, where he’s in stable condition, Correa said.

The teen, who will be tried as an adult, is being held in jail on a $1 million bond after his arraignment on Monday.
