A Palm Springs pool party headlined by The Chainsmokers turned chaotic early Sunday after bottles were thrown into the crowd, injuring nine people and sending seven of them to the hospital.
Officers assigned to the event responded around 1:40 a.m. to a report of an assault, and additional police were brought in to help secure the scene while authorities investigated.
According to the Palm Springs Police Department, a dispute involving an unknown number of people escalated before bottles were hurled into the crowd.
Seven attendees were transported to a local hospital with minor injuries linked to broken glass, while two others received treatment at the scene.
The incident unfolded after a performance by electronic music duo The Chainsmokers at Splash House, the three-day festival staged across multiple venues in Palm Springs.
The festival runs through Sunday at the Hilton Palm Springs, Renaissance Palm Springs Hotel and the Saguaro Palm Springs, with a second weekend scheduled for Aug. 14 through Aug. 16, according to the Desert Sun.
Most Splash House sets are scheduled from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the three hotel venues.
The event also hosts an official after-party at the Palm Springs Air Museum from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. on the first two nights of the festival.
