A man with the unusual name of Loony Toon has been handed a lengthy prison sentence for his involvement in a shooting incident with police officers in Oregon.
Loony John Franklin Kolb Toon, aged 43, has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for opening fire on officers in Milwaukie, a suburb of Portland, during a traffic stop incident in June 2025, according to a judge’s decision.
The confrontation occurred when Toon fired shots at the officers as he attempted to flee the scene following the discovery of an outstanding warrant against him. During his escape, he abandoned his SUV and a female companion, subsequently fleeing on foot onto a local golf course.
Authorities apprehended Toon three days after the incident.
At the time of the shooting, Toon was on probation for an attempted kidnapping charge. He pleaded guilty to several charges, including four counts of first-degree attempted assault with a firearm, unlawful use of a firearm, being a felon in possession of a firearm, and second-degree escape.
A judge from the Clackamas County Circuit Court sentenced Toon to 20 years in prison, with the sentence set to run concurrently with other charges pending in different counties across Oregon.

Toon was also ordered to pay restitution to the city of Milwaukie for damaging a police car and to the owner of a car hit by his bullets.
