A person was wounded Thursday afternoon in the Bronx during an encounter involving agents from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), according to information shared with News Outlet.
The shooting was reported at about 4 p.m. in the Marble Hill section of the Bronx, the New York Police Department said in a post on X.
NYPD officials said the injured person was transported to a nearby hospital and remained conscious while receiving treatment.
Authorities had not immediately released the person’s name or provided details about the severity of the injuries.

The NYPD emphasized that none of its officers took part in the shooting and that department personnel were not present when it happened.

An NYPD spokesperson said the Department of Homeland Security is handling the investigation and referred further questions to federal officials.
New York Gov. Kathy Hochul said she was briefed on the incident Thursday and urged federal authorities to disclose a complete account of the events.

“We expect federal authorities to provide a full and transparent accounting of the circumstances surrounding this incident,” Hochul wrote on X. “New Yorkers deserve to know exactly what happened and why.”
ICE and DHS representatives did not immediately answer News Outlet’s requests for comment.
Officials have not yet explained what led to the gunfire, identified the person who fired the weapon or confirmed whether the wounded individual was connected to a federal law enforcement operation.
