Actor Julian McMahon dies after private battle with cancer

Renowned actor Julian McMahon, celebrated for his performances in FBI: Most Wanted, the Fantastic Four movies from the 2000s, Nip/Tuck, and Charmed, has died following a private battle with cancer.

The news was first reported by Deadline.

“Julian cherished life, his family, his friends, his work, and his fans. His heartfelt desire was to spread happiness to as many people as he could. We request privacy to allow our family to mourn. For everyone who found joy through Julian, we hope you continue to delight in life. We are thankful for the memories,” expressed his wife, Kelly McMahon, in a statement to an entertainment news outlet.

McMahon was born in Sydney, Australia, on July 27, 1968. His father served as the Prime Minister of Australia from 1971 to 1972.  

First starting out as a model, McMahon transitioned into acting and starred in Australian daytime soap operas and movies before moving to Hollywood.

His career launched in 1993 with a starring role in NBC’s “Another World,” and he later became known for his character Cole Turner on “Charmed.” Additionally, he portrayed Dr. Christian Troy in Ryan Murphy’s acclaimed plastic surgery-focused drama “Nip/Tuck,” a performance that spanned six seasons and earned him a Golden Globe nomination.

Marvel fans will know McMahon as Dr. Doom in the 2005 “Fantastic Four” movie and the 2007 sequel “Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer.”

For his final role, McMahon played the Australian Prime Minister in the Netflix series “The Residence.”
