More than 12,500 customers affected by power outages in Jacksonville area Wednesday

JEA said the outages were due to the weather, mostly lightning strikes.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — On Wednesday afternoon, JEA experienced power outages that impacted over 12,500 customers, as indicated on their outage map. This represents 2.3% of JEA’s total of 540,200 customers.

The outages were due to weather, many due to lightning strikes, according to JEA.

By approximately 5 p.m., the San Jose area had 6,502 customers affected, with crews dispatched to address the situation. More than 3,000 outages were reported in the Eastside and extending into the Urban Core. The Bowden Road vicinity also saw significant impacts with around 200 outages, while the Arlington/Alderman Park region experienced over 500 outages, with the disruption stretching eastwards to Atlantic Beach.
