A Pennsylvania woman was arrested after allegedly breaking into the home of a man she had briefly dated, in what police described as an unusual effort to rekindle the relationship. The man told authorities he had noticed items inside his home being mysteriously moved around for weeks.
Lindsay Harris’s alleged attempts to reconnect came to light in late June, when police say she was caught entering her former date’s Bucks County residence without permission.
Officers said Harris, 30, was seen climbing through a window of the man’s home while carrying a bottle of red wine and Italian water ice, apparently expecting a romantic evening, according to NBC Philadelphia.
The homeowner, however, viewed the encounter as a break-in rather than a gesture of affection and called 911. Police said officers arrived quickly and took Harris into custody.
“We get a call for a woman breaking into one of our residents’ homes in Fairless Hills. We responded and sure enough, officers see a 30-year-old female crawling through a window, and they take her into custody and then we find out the whole story,” Falls Township Police Chief Nelson Whitney told the local news station.
Police said Harris and the man had met on the dating app Match and briefly dated beginning in January, before he chose to end the relationship.
Investigators said Harris did not accept the breakup and became increasingly fixated on the man.
“The male decided not to continue the relationship but I guess the female wanted to continue it,” Whitney said.
Besides the late June break-in, the man told NBC 10 that he suspected Harris had visited his home multiple times, as he found many items moved around or out of place in his home.
He also told the outlet he had never given her his address.
Harris was booked and charged with stalking, trespassing and harassment, according to authorities.
