A suspected late-night street race involving a high-priced Porsche supercar ended in a violent three-vehicle collision, sending several people to the hospital — among them an 84-year-old passenger who was left in critical condition.
The crash occurred shortly before midnight Saturday at Rock Boulevard and McCarran Boulevard in east Reno, the Reno Police Department said.
According to investigators, a Porsche 911 GTS — valued at roughly $200,000 — and a striking Audi RS5 were traveling south on McCarran Boulevard at high speed when both drivers allegedly ran a red light and crashed into an uninvolved Toyota pickup truck.

Footage shared on social media appears to capture the two performance vehicles racing side by side moments before the high-impact crash, which scattered wreckage across the intersection.
Police said six people were riding in the Toyota when the collision happened. All six were taken to area hospitals, including an 84-year-old occupant who remains in critical condition.
The juvenile driver of the Porsche was also hospitalized, along with the adult driver of the Audi and the Audi’s passenger, authorities said.
Officers swarmed the scene minutes after the collision as investigators from the department’s Major Accident Investigation Team took over the case. Authorities have not released the identities of those involved or announced whether any arrests or charges are expected.
Police said they believe additional witnesses may have left the scene before officers arrived and are asking anyone with information, photos or video of the crash to come forward.
The investigation remains ongoing.
