Anna Murdoch-Mann, a cherished figure, left this world on Tuesday, February 17, at the age of 81. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loved ones in her Palm Beach, Florida home.
Anna was a beloved presence in many circles, known for her dedication as a mother, her striking presence, her sharp intelligence, and her lifelong passion for writing. Her commitment to supporting children’s welfare was unwavering.
Born as Anna Torv in 1944 in Glasgow, Scotland, she moved with her family to Australia at the age of nine. After her parents’ divorce, Anna took on the responsibility of raising her younger siblings. She embarked on a journalism career, working first at the Sydney Daily Mirror and then at the Sydney Daily Telegraph.
For 31 years, Anna was married to Rupert Murdoch, playing a pivotal role alongside him in the establishment of the global media empire, News Corp. Her influence and support were instrumental during this period.
