Bones found in Mokena, Illinois: More remains found at Townline Road and Oakwood Drive, where bones of Terhan F. Gordon recovered

In a significant development from Mokena, Illinois, authorities have uncovered more human remains in a south suburban field. This comes on the heels of last week’s discovery of the bones of a man who had been reported missing. The Will County Sheriff’s Office shared this update as they continue their investigation.

The latest remains were found during a thorough examination of the area around Townline Road and Oakwood Drive on Monday. This discovery has prompted an ongoing police presence in the vicinity, expected to continue through Monday night as officials work meticulously to piece together the details of this case.

Initial discoveries in the same field occurred last Tuesday afternoon when skeletal remains were first noticed. The grim find began with land surveyors stumbling upon what appeared to be a human skull. Deputies then uncovered additional bones scattered across the field, raising the urgency of the investigation.

On Friday night, the Will County Coroner’s Office confirmed the identity of the previously found remains. They belong to 36-year-old Terhan F. Gordon, a resident of Joliet. Gordon was reported missing by his family in July 2025, adding a somber context to the ongoing investigation as authorities work to unravel the circumstances surrounding his death.

The Will County Sheriff’s Office said land surveyors found what appeared to be a human skull, and responding deputies located additional bones scattered throughout the field.
