Scott Bessent attacks Gavin Newsom: 'Glass jaw, slow brain'

Scott Bessent recently delivered a scathing critique of Gavin Newsom, describing the California governor as having a “glass jaw” and a “slow brain.”

In a comprehensive interview with Fox News on Friday morning, the Treasury Secretary did not hold back in his criticism of Newsom.

Bessent remarked, “In the realm of boxing, Newsom can’t handle a punch. He’s quick to lash out, but when the tables turn, he becomes completely rattled. You challenge him, and his glass jaw and sluggish thinking become evident.”

This sharp commentary comes as Newsom remains a persistent challenge for the Trump administration, amid speculation that he might announce a presidential bid soon.

However, on Thursday, when approached by the California Post regarding his future political plans, the Democrat was noncommittal, stating, “It’s wildly premature.”

This response transitioned into a discussion about his forthcoming memoir, “Young Man in a Hurry,” set for release on February 24, including a nod to the Founding Fathers in his speech.

He continued: “But there is a book — and by the way, it talks a lot about the Bay Area and our respective histories, and, I’m looking forward to sharing it … and we’ll be on that book tour, this weekend and a little bit through next week.”

Newsom’s book tour starts in Nashville, Tennessee, where he’ll headline a Tennessee Democratic Party fundraiser at the weekend.

It continues in Georgia, South Carolina, and New Hampshire — the latter two being key early voting states in Democratic primaries.
